Residents have lauded the Lagos State government for putting in place proper logistics for the sale of Lake Rice this yuletide at the Lagos Television Complex (LTV), Agidingbi-Ikeja, the designated sales point.
Buyers said proper planning and organisation made it possible to get the product with ease. It was noted that officials at the centre were courteous and pleasant. The sale of the rice is on a first come first serve basis.
According to Hassan Adewale, who also bought the Lake Rice “Lake rice is of a very good quality and has become a household name and I am pleased with the arrangement at this centre.”
Another buyer, Olamide Fashola also expressed satisfaction in sales of the product saying that the process was a lot easier than expected.
She urged the State government to consider a further price reduction in the spirit of the season because the sale of Lake rice has forced down the prices of other brands of rice lower than the amount Lake rice was being sold.
The Commissioner for Agriculture, Mr. Oluwatoyin Suarau, who was on ground to monitor sales activities stated that the present administration was committed to making policies that will enhance food productivity in the state and the government will ensure the continuous availability of the rice.
He also added that the product will continue to maintain its quality. “Our LAKE Rice is of good quality. The major difference between the rice and imported rice is that the imported has a minimum storage of five to six years storage lifespan, but LAKE Rice is fresh,” he said.
Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode and his Kebbi State counterpart, Alhaji Atiku Bagudu launched the Lagos-Kebbi Rice on December 21, 2016.
